Buzzzzzzzzing by!

Published by at 1:21 pm under Our Craft Lounge,SCS Challenges

Okay … the ice has topped our roads again, and the little snowflakes have been blowing sideways down the street this morning.   Schools are closed again but it’s far too frigid outside for the kids to enjoy snow play.  I know that when Texas gets hit with this, other people across the US are getting even more.    Seems that the winter of 2011 will certainly be memorable!    Best plan?  Clean the closet … or stamp.  Yeah … that’s some easy choice, huh?   😉

This week’s color challenge over at SCS, CC309, inspired me to created this greeting … obviously looking toward Spring with the bees.  I’m thinking that surely those little workers are anxiously awaiting the arrival of warmth and blooms along with many of us!

While I was coloring in the large expanse of ‘honeycomb’, I realized that I would use an octagon shape for the card.  From there, it was an easy jump to using the octagon dies for the other separate elements.

The leaves and beehive are topped with Sparkly Fluff.   I love the little bit of glitz in this cool product!  It picks up the light just enough to capture your eyes.  I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder on the rusty layer beneath the stamped ‘honeycomb’.  For some added depth, Distress Ink was rubbed on the raised portions.  And last, it’s just not showing on the photo, but the honeycomb and sentiment are lightly misted with Perfect Pearls for just a wee subtle shimmer.

Also, today is my day to post projects on the Our Craft Lounge blog … affectionately known as “The Lounge”.   I’ve shared a total of 5 projects there, focused on the ‘For Someone Special’ theme just in case you are hopping around for more crafty inspiration today.

Thanks so much for your visit here at Savor the Journey!   I appreciate your sharing a moment of your day with me.   Stay warm & safe out there, my friends!

  2. What a fun and ‘sweet’ card, Bev. You chose well between closet cleaning or card making. My choices were removing wallpaper or card making. So, I’ve got two more Valentines made. lol
