It’s All About Relationships!

Published by at 4:33 pm under Bits & Thoughts

At least, I have heard Shelli make that statement at earlier events.  And those of you who do know me, have seen that for me, this is indeed a vital part of my love of stamping.   Since becoming a rubber stamping enthusiast and S.U. demonstrator, nearly 5 years ago, I have met the most delightful new friends.  Some have become so close that I wonder how I ever got along without them previously.  Others remain a constant smile-maker whenever I’m privileged to meet up with them at a stamping event, large or small.  And new friends?!   I truly delight in meeting new friends.  My stamping hobby-turned-career has had such a positive impact on my life that it’s truly hard to describe adequately.

Linda Hansen & Tex 400And so, it only seems natural that some of my favorite memories of my first S.U. Convention, are those pictures of people!  Then … I risk hurting feelings if I don’t include all that I photographed.  So, if I have convention pics of you, and you would like to see them posted here, please just email me!  I can happily edit & add!  In the meantime, I’ll share just a few of my many favs.  First picture?  I was so tickled that Linda Hansen was there to hand my convention bag to me on check-in day!  Her presentations are always so creative, and her humor is unbeatable. Angie Tieman 400 Love that non-stop smile!

Later that evening, we had the ultimate SU Pajama Party, at which about 2,500 of us were stamping our Make & Takes!  I’ve been to lots of pajama parties, but this was the biggest and busiest I could have imagined!  Lucky me, I got to stamp with one of my sweet Texas friends, Angie Tieman!    Pssst!  Angie is one of Stampin’ Up!’s 10 Artisan Award winners!  Congratulations again, Angie!

Dina Belinda Tex 400I heard Dina’s sweet voice calling out my name on Thursday, near the display boards!  Dina and I met 3 years ago at regionals in San Antonio.  We hardly ever see each other, even though she’s another North Texas girl.  She was with another cool SCS friend, Belinda King!  This is the fun, fun part of convention … spotting old friends, and it’s just as fun to find new ones too.  Imagine my complete surprise to find a fun note from Dina on my car windshield here at the DFW Airport parking lot when I returned home!  What are the odds?  Thanks, Dina!

Convention’s last day was bittersweet.  We were tired, yet eager to see & learn as much as possible.  Spencer & Tex 400 copy  So many great awards were given in the morning session, and some awesome classes were held that afternoon.  As I walked to my afternoon class, I was lucky enough to find Spencer, manning a resources table … with hardly anyone to talk to!  Problem solved!  haha  I delivered a ((hug)) from our dear friend Jenn, and got one for myself as well!  Spencer’s presentations are always a pure delight, and he has never-ending stage talent as well.

So, that’s it for “people-sharing” for now.  I took a multitude of wonderful photos, and am still resizing and cropping.   Surely these will spur me to make some cool mini albums, etc.  The memories of convention #1 are still keeping me sooooo uplifted!   I hope that all attendees have the same feeling!

  3. Oh, I am living convention vicariously through those of you who went and posted about it since I had to give up my spot for family reasons! I think you are right – the best part of this whole business is the people you meet – I am amazed at the kindness and generosity of those whom SU! has brought into my life! Love your blog Tex – will be back often! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex

You’re so RIGHT ON, Bev. I can’t wait to see you again! Hey, what are you doing on the 19th? I’ll be in Dallas 17-19 for a convention with Mike and the kids. Want to do brunch? I’m stopping in Salado on the way up, too. . . ;).
