“Sparkle, Sparkle Trees of Three!”

Tis the Season FiggyTrees 500

Hi everyone!  I’m back, and I’m among the walking & talking!  Last week I spent a day with 2 of my grandsons, Eli & Zeke, and their mommy, my daughter Jessica.  They were pretty sick … and it gave me an opportunity to spend some .. uhhhhh .. “quality” nurturing time with them.  *wink*  Naturally … my needy turn came shortly afterwards …. oh yeah.  I didn’t stamp, I didn’t touch my computer, I did not even leave the confines of my little circle zone of comfort while the time seemed to stand still for just a little while.   Thankfully, all bad things do eventually come to an end.   So now it’s time to get back into the “real” world, play some “catch up”, and tell you about my newest creation for Hanna Stamps!

There’s something about the tree image in “Tis the Season” that I just love.  Maybe it’s simply the fact that I was raised in the plains, and still live in the plains … even though here it’s Texas and years ago it was Oklahoma.  Now, I adore those beautiful areas that are so unlike the plains.  I love pine trees, evergreen trees, fir trees, etc.  Well … simply put … I love lush, green areas filled with trees of all sorts.

It just takes a little bit of masking to create a setting of close trees with this image.  The image is simple enough to easily cut your mask, and is actually excellent for those to try who might not have tried to mask before.  MASKING:  To create your mask, stamp the image on paper, such as printer paper, large post-it note, or even lightweight cardstock (my choice).  I chose lightweight cardstock because I’ve recently been masking quite a bit, and wanted a mask to be reusable several times.   Cut out your mask carefully, trying to stay just on the outside of the inked lines.   Now, you will stamp your primary image on your cardstock in the location that you want to appear to be “closest” to the viewer.  Once stamped, you will “mask” this image with your cut out “mask”.  I use temporary adhesive in a couple of places on the back of the mask to hold it precisely in place over the newly stamped image.   You’re ready now to stamp another image, close to the primary image.  Let part of it go over the mask itself.  These areas will “seem” to be behind the main image later.  I set my trees down farther on the cardstock to add to the illusion that they are “behind” and farther away than the central tree.  Repeat as often as necessary to create your scene.  I’m looking forward to my order from eclectic Paperie later this week, because I’ve ordered some Eclipse Tape, which is designed for making masks that gently stick to the images.   Oooooh, I love new “toys”!  Sometimes, you may need 2 or 3 masks to preserve the image lines of your already stamped images.  Experiment a little, and you’ll discover how easy it is to add dimension with masking!

I’ve created a snowy scene with Liquid Applique from eclectic Paperie.  And of course, if you want “sparkle”, you need some glitz!  I always seem to break out the glitter during the holiday card season.  *grin*  The tree image was repeatedly stamped side-by-side to create the background on the card base.

Wow, I’m with you Bev, I love anything with trees on it. I live in Los Angeles near the ocean so we don’t get to see trees much either. I love visiting my best friend in Canada, more trees there than any place I’ve ever been! Excellent card, great masking job.
