Hanna’s Snowflakes – Limited Supplies!
I promised myself I was going to try this week’s Limited Supplies Challenge at SCS … even before I read it! The Limited Supplies Challenge is unique in that the hostess posts the limits on stamps to be used, and the few colors allowed and embellishment limits. The challenge is to create a card/project within those guidelines. LSC143 asked for just neutral colors with a little splash allowed of another color, snowflakes & a sentiment, plus one embellishment. Since my Stampin’ Up! snowflakes set retired, I personally challenged myself to use the snowflakes from my Hanna set, “Tis the Season”. All snowflakes were stamped in various shades of browns on shimmery white cardstock. The card base is Kraft cardstock to which I added some machine stitches in a ‘starburst’ pattern to emulate the brilliance of a snowfall. The punched snowflakes on the lower edge were sponged with a bit of Bravo Burgundy, with shimmery cardstock showing through. The shimmer is pretty IRL .. although it isn’t showing in my photo. The layout is a self-case of my own 4×4 format. *wink* I hope you enjoy! If you haven’t tried the Limited Supplies Challenge, give it a try! The link takes you to the main page for all of the LS challenges.
Remember that I mentioned the stitches on the front? I’m so excited about those little stitches!! Yes .. I do have a sewing machine in a cabinet … in a very awkward spot for easy use. That arrangement just can’t be changed currently. So I took my sweet friend’s advice (Cami) and bought a little portable machine just like hers, which is happily sitting right here on my stamp table! It’s the ‘Janome Sew Mini’, from Hancock Fabrics! I’ve used it three times now on various papercrafting projects … and it is perfect for papercrafters! I have no plans of using it for fabrics … but it is handling cardstock and patterned papers like a little dream! Thank you, thank you, Cami! Yaaaay!

Oh, look at that stitching! Brilliant! Love that big, beautiful, rich red ribbon, too. A snowflake card is my idea of Christmas and I’m so sorely lacking in snowflake stamps. How could that possibly have happened, I wonder? What a wonderful job you did with this challenge!
Hey Girl,
When you described the challenge I just thought it would be miraculous to make it pretty with all browns. Well you do make miracles! I really like it ; Nothing dull about it. The sewn starburst is my fav. That new little machine is doing great. hugs, Cheryl
Great card, love how you did the stitiching, those little machines really make it easier and that giant ribbon is fantastic.
This is darling. I love what you did with the sewing.
Bev, this card is stunning!!! Love it all, stitching, ribbon, and the snowburst punches.
