‘Sweet Friend’ – Bloomin’ Beautiful

Published by at 9:02 pm under SCS Challenges,Stampin' Up! Projects

Bloomin Beautiful * Sweet Friend SC169Oooooh, I was so pleased to discover that today’s SCS sketch challenge (SC169) was based on a beautiful project design by SCS member, “LeslieRich“.  Fortunate was I to meet Leslie at the Portland Regionals last fall … and I’ve discovered that the admiration of her work is even sweeter now that we’ve met.

The wind is sweeping across North Texas like a locomotive this week, so photography was limited to Ott lights.  As luck would have it, I truly believe the natural light would have helped in this photo.  As far as recreating the sketch … I started at the topmost layer, cutting the watercolor paper at 1.5″ X 4.25″ .  From there, the only time I needed to make an adjustment from my “guesses” Leslie Miller & Tex 500was on the horizontal strip.  Originally I cut it too short.  I’ve distressed the edges on the designer papers (all from the  SU Ginger Blossoms collection), but I think that should I do another of these cards, I’ll leave the edges clean.  I’m sure the overall design would still be a beauty.  The top-fold card base is created of River Rock cardstock.  By far, that is my very favorite In Color this catalog year.

.

The photo is Leslie & I while at the Portland Regionals.  She is such a darling woman .. inside and out!

Oh, Bev…I saw this beauty on Splitcoast–you’ve truly created a marvel! I just wanted to pop in for a minute and can’t stay long. Gee, look what I found. You’re so sweet! I no longer have those horrible braces on. Gosh, in all the photos it looks like I have dead, black teeth! I’m so glad we met. Before then I had no idea Texas Grammy was such a loving, kind, truly genuine person. I wish everyone could have the same opportunity to find that out in person!
