Thoughts for the day … March 28, 2008

Published by at 1:00 am under About,Bits & Thoughts

Hopefully, we never stop learning as we journey along life’s way.  I have learned through the years that I just should ‘let go’ of the “small stuff”.  I’ll apologize if you think that’s for “old folks”.  But the truth is … as we savor the journey of life, we reap a few things along the way that are worth saving, and we need to learn to let go of much of the “small stuff”.   And that is one of those codes that I try to remember  ….”Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff”.  Look for that title in your fav bookstore.  *wink*     I was blessed to receive a copy from my partner teacher a few years ago.  We both had our hands FULL indeed.   Thanks, Wendy!   ((((hugs)))))

Once upon a year, I had signed up to take a Graduate Elementary Education Course  … “Reading Recovery”  … through Texas Women’s University’s Graduate Program.  In the course of that year, I was teaching Reading Recovery during the morning hours, snatching a 10-minute bite for lunch, then teaching 1st grade Math, Science, and Social Studies during the afternoons.  I thought I might never emerge at the end of the year as a functioning adult … much less as a 1st Grade Teacher AND Reading Recovery Certified Teacher.    I missed Jessica’s first dormitory move-in at Texas A&M Universiety, among other wonderful things.  Well, years have passed, and we did survive.   I made several apoligies to my children and husband along the way.   Thankfully, I think they still love me!~  Yaaaay!

The point is  … Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff!   I have a cyber + IRL friend out there who is struggling with priorities.  I hurt for her.  Yet in reality, we are generations apart.  I “see” how she is struggling .. without knowing anything specific.   Life is a journey.  Our faith can enable us in so many ways.   For me, my faith and my family are my number one base points of communication.  Next are my friends.   Ladies, without this wonderful support system, I wonder how far any of us would progress.

Although I had once felt that I had a card for this post, … I think I’ll just wait.  My hope for all of you is that you will just “let go” of the “small stuff”.   As women, we are so well trained to try to carry it all.  Let’s just let the little things go, whenever we can!

((((((((hugs))))))) to all of you out there!

Bev, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful wisdom. You are so right and I wish that I had understood this when I was younger. It’s something I counsel my girls on who are young adults – I hope they get it. I have a husband who is quite ill and I have learned to live for right now and not to worry beyond that – the small stuff will take care of itself.
