Challenging Colors * CC161

Garden Whimsey Color Challenge 520

I knew I wanted to participate in a couple of challenges this week, and the first one I’ve had a little time to do was the SCS Color Challenge, CC161.  Let’s just say that my first response was, “You want me to use Glorious Green?!”  Between you & I … it’s very possible that I am still using my original package of GG.  I’m not sure of that, but it’s likely.  This week’s challenge is Glorious Green + Real Red + Night of Navy. I cased one of my own designs from last year and tossed in a bit of Cuttlebug embossing plus an extra cardstock layer.   Markers were used to apply color to the stamp, using the 1st image in the center, then creating the side images without reinking … just some huffing to moisten the remaining ink.   The happy birthday tags were created by using a technique I learned from Michelle Wooderson, about the time that Stampin’ Up! first presented the Word Window Punch.  Stamp the words, then use the Word Window Punch.  Next, punch the end of the oval shape with the Horizontal Slot Punch to create an opening for ribbon.  The cool trick is that by using your snips to cut a tiny cut at the end, the slot is now open, and you can hang the tag onto a ribbon that has already been tied!    Thanks Mish!   Card Recipe:  STAMPS>>  SU Garden Whimsey, SU Everyday Flexible Phrases.  INKS>> Stampin’ Write Markers = Glorious Green and Real Red.  PAPERS>>  Garden Green, Night of Navy, Real Red, Shimmer White.  ACCESSORIES>>  Ribbon by Ribbon Bow-tique, Cuttlebug, Adornit Jewels, Horizontal Slot Punch, Word Window Punch, Ticket Corner Punch.

Hmmm, I thought I already commented on this particular card. But it showed up as new post. My memory is short more and more each day. I love your doodling around the frames. Also love the little tags tip. Very clever.
