Celebrate! Baby Shower!
Is there a baby shower coming up? Here’s a Spring-filled idea with happy colors for the upcoming occasion! This one includes a bit of 3-D layering for added interest in the umbrella and the gifts. These pieces were easy to cut, so the paper-pieced layering went pretty quickly. I used a dry emboss stylus to add ribbing scores to the umbrella, enabling me to add a curve of dimension. The cuttlebugged layer was lightly touched with pink pigment ink on a sponge dabber. Inspiration for this card started with this item at “Skeem” , from the Inspiration Challenge at SCS, IC176.

This is Beautiful!! Gosh, I am going to miss you!
Wow! This is amazing! I’m not even going to try and figure out how you did it, it looks so artsy!
this is so cool! love the way you did the umbrella with the embossing stylus! and great, fun colors! 🙂
OK, so the stylus is what allowed you to get the curve? did you use flat stick em on the ends and then a pop dot in the middle or did you use some of Jody’s pop up thingies??? It’s a GREAT look and would love to copy cat it! 🙂
Thanks KelliJo!
There are 2 added layers to the umbrella. For each one, I layed them atop a soft piercing foam mat, upside down, and gently scored the two ‘rib lines’ on the umbrellas with my dry embossing stylus.
Next, I applied a tiny line of liquid glue to the sides of the umbrellas. The curvature is slight, but enough to squeeze up the middle just enough, while gluing down the sides. Once the first layer was holding well, I repeated with the second one. There are no pop dots or other products used to lift the umbrella. HTH!

Theuse of colors is a great change from pink and blue pastel.
