Birthday Wishes!

GK trop flwrs wtc gkchlng 340×475Welcome to a brand new week, everyone!   Here’s my card for the recent SCS LSC217, Limited Supplies Challenge, limiting us to the colors in one of our rooms at home.  One of my bedrooms is based on the colors in the bedspread, shams & curtains, which include a soft ‘kraft’ color, with plum and soft green.   Once I knew the colors, it was easy to plan the rest to fit with one of the Gina K challenges to use the main image again as the background!   It’s been a while since I’ve done that, so it was a refreshing challenge.  I was really in the mood to work with something ‘floral’.

I inked the main image with markers, stamped the central stem of flowers, then continued to stamp off to create the illusion of depth.  In order to continue getting stamped off images, I did reink a couple of times and stamped the first inking off on scrap paper.  For the background, I used the same floral stem, but inked only with stamped off Old Olive.  The stem was stamped on the diagonal for added interest.  A little bit of heat from the heat tool crinkled the organdy ribbon.    Tex’s Tip:  When heating ribbon to crinkle or melt, use a light touch with your heat tool.  Too much heat too fast can easily melt a hole in your ribbon.  So, easy does it!

In summary, this card is a quick & easy one to execute, with limited supplies necessary.  I’m planning to add a couple to my ‘stash box’, and just save the sentiment to fit the needs later.  I hope you enjoy!  Thanks so much for stopping by!
