Kindergarten Report Card Cover!

GK Skool tppr 575×86

Recently I was a very lucky stamper.  GK set Bk2Skl 220×375  I was a delighted winner of one of the new release stamp sets from Gina K. Designs!    And what set did I win?  The one that touched my heart … “Back to School”!   This one is packed with sweet schooltime images by the talented Rupe Shevde, and as soon as I saw it in the GK previews, I was “wishing” for this set.  Thank you, Gina!!

Originally, I ‘thought’ that my first project would be something for my g’son’s Kindergarten teacher.  I hadn’t received the set by the time I attended Grandparent’s Lunch with him last week at his school, and once the set was in my hot little hands, I had spotted a sweet tutorial for a report card cover by the uber-talented Kim Hughes.  Well … that settled that!  The first project “had” to be a report card cover for that treasured Kindergarten Report Card ….truly a no-brainer for this Mimi!

The template allows for an ‘edge’ along the side of the cover for whatever identification one elects to include.  I wanted a ‘tabbed’ alphabet look, but didn’t find the right size in my small stash of stickers.  Aha!  Turn to the always-available printer.  Score!  Once I found the size & font I liked, I simply trimmed my own tabs and adhered them to the edge.  Cheap & easy!

I love the ease of this template .. you really must give it a try.  I used my favorite Scor-Tape to adhere the sides and lower edges, as your regular adhesive won’t be sufficient if you really intend to be slipping a folded page in & out of the cover.   GK bk2skl closbks 375×362  The books were stamped twice, once on the dsp, and once on white cardstock.  The dsp version was colored with a W2 Copics to amplify the appearance of shadowing, while the white c/stock version was colored with Copic markers, cut out, and popped up on foam tape for added dimension.  The ‘Star Student’ image was stamped on white c/s, colored, and glittered with MS Glitter in the middle, with a lighter Stickles glitter on the outer edges.  Again, cut it out, pop it up, and it adds more zing to any project.   If this were for a girl, it would have been so easy to use ribbon!  However, I chose to stick with mono-tone brads for the bordering edge, and a sweet little clip for lifting the actual report card from the cover.

I hope you’re enjoying a marvelous weekend!   We’re enjoying the rare treat of a bit of rain and are oh so thankful here!  Thank you for checking in on your sweet time off.  Have a blessed weekend, friends!
