Gina K. Card Kit Club Blog Hop!

Welcome to our very first GinaK Card Kit Club blog hop!

Gina K. Designs has assembled an amazingly talented group of designers who will be sharing some cards on their blogs tonight, based on December’s Card Kits.   Let’s just say that I am “so” tickled to have been invited as a member of Gina’s Card Kit Club Design Team!  For this month’s hop, we were challenged to design our projects using the same basic sketch and measurements of the card kit class cards, but to put own own personal touches on them adding whatever embellishments, patterned papers, etc. that we would like to use!

We hope you’re going to be delighted with what the team came up with for you!  I’m pleased to introduce you to the Gina K. Card Kit Design Team …..

Colleen Schaan  sharing “Life is Good”

Sankari Wegman sharing “Tech Talk”

Suzanne Dean  sharing “Warm and Wonderful”

Valerie Stangle sharing “Lovely Shelf”

and myself, Bev Gerard  sharing “Warm and Wonderful”

Thanks so much for stopping by to say, “Hi!”

I just adore the “Warm and Wonderful” stamp set by Rupa Shevde!  It’s filled with wintery images and beautiful sentiments.  My first card follows the clean & simple sketch provided in December’s Warm and Wonderful Card Kit

Gina K.’s Kraft cardstock was top-folded for the base, while Mother of Pearl cardstock was dry embossed with the Cuttlebug ‘Houndstooth’ folder, then added as the top layer of the card.  The hat, mitten, and mug of hot cocoa were colored with Copics YG93, YG95, W3, and #57 before being cut out an given a bit of “dazzle” with a Sakura Stardust pen.  See those yummy ‘marshmallows’?  They’re really just a few tiny drops of puffed up Liquid Applique!  Tiny rhinestones give the just-right bit of sparkle to the finished images!

Our second challenge was to use the cardstock measurements that are found in our perspective card kits, while choosing our own layout with those given dimensions and our own selection of papers and embellishments.  I’ve turned the 4.25″x5.5″ cards to horizontal, and kept the layout quick and easy.   In fact, I found the first one came together so quickly that I made up a second choice!  Tex’s Tip:  When you feel the stampin’ spark, one should respond!       😉

This is a Chocolate Kiss card base topped with Reminisce designer paper that was first Cuttlebugged with the “Swiss Dot” embossing folder.  I’ve randomly touched the raised dots with a Quickie Glue pen, then dusted with Stampendous Multi glitter for lots of little bitty points of sparkle.  Next, the beautiful sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink (my fav black ink!), then it was overstamped with various snowflake images from “Warm and Wonderful” inked with Distress Inks – Broken China and stamped off once to lighten the color.  In keeping with the brown distressing that occurs on the Reminisce paper, I lightly sponged the edges of the sentiment layer with Distress Inks – Brushed Corduroy.  A tiny rim of glitter was added to the edges before tying on the ribbon.  I think it might have gone together quicker than I’ve been able to compose this section!  *grin*

Remember I previously suggested that when you feel the stampin’ spark you should probably respond?  Well I did just that, and here’s the alternate version of my second challenge.  Basically, I just flipped the cardstock colors as well as the sides for the layout, and repeated the steps!  Aha!  I did add some doodling around this sentiment just for variety.  Now an interesting tidbit is how much I sincerely “adore” the sentiment on this sample.  For those who know me in real life … or in our stampin’ lives, you likely know that I do enjoy sharing (((hugs))) with my friends and family.  I’m happy to share “Tex (((Hugs)))” in friendship!  So of course, I’m thinking that I’ll be favoring this stamp for a long time to come!  Thanks, Rupa!

And finally, May Arts ribbons were used on both cards … Oh yes, I do love using ribbon!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my part of tonight’s Card Kit Club Blog Hop!!  I’m tickled to have you share it with me, and definitely blessed to be here.  Thank you, Gina K. and Jessica Fick!  Consider yourselves {hugged}!

You are sincerely invited to travel along through our blog hop finding lots of sweet inspiration along the way!  Just check the list of my design team colleague’s blogs up above, and enjoy!!
