Sledding! * Honoring our Northern neighbors! * Gina K’s Customer Blog Hop in December!!!

Yes .. my youth was spent in Oklahoma.   But I just don’t remember “heavy” snowfalls.  I do remember snowfalls of 1″ or maybe 2″ … my Daddy often called it a dusting.   Although I never had an actual sled, I did take a large side of cardboard over to a nearby ‘hill’ … (laughable when I see it now …) and singly ‘slid’ down that meager little hill for the glee of sledding … Oklahoma style.  Wheeeeeeeee!

Zoom to the present!  Our Northern USA neighbors have been pelted with record snowfalls this week.  Traffic, jobs, safety … everything stifled by the snows.   Honestly?  I’m thankful to have clear roads here in N. Texas.  What comes here tomorrow?  We’ll see.  But in the meantime … I had to create this card in honor of my Northern ‘friends’.  I know this has been an extraordinary time … and I hope that all are safe … and I also hope that their children have been able to savor a bit of the wintery fun that comes with the snowfalls.    😉

What a pleasure to use the sled from Rupa Shevde’s “Warm and Wonderful” stamp set for Gina K. Designs for this wintery card!   The layout is from the SC260 sketch challenge this week at SplitCoast Stampers.   The large chipboard ‘snowy’ accent was painted with a Ranger Acrylic paint dauber, then with Ranger Crackle Paint – Rock Candy.   The die cut snowflakes were also enhanced with Rock Candy Stickles.  I think the rest is pretty self-explanatory … but you’re welcome to ask if you have specific questions.

I will be back with a Saturday post, featuring another sketch challenge!  I hope that you’ll return to get more inspiration and to stop briefly for a ‘Howdy’!  In the meantime, my hope is that you will enjoy a wonderful Christmas … savoring the pleasure and love of family and friends.  You have blessed me with your comments and cyber-friendships, and I owe you many thanks!

Opportunity!!  You still have time to use your December release stamp set from Gina K. Designs to join in this Customer Blog Hop!  All you need to do is create a card featuring your newest Gina K. stamp set from December, and upload the link to Mr. Linky before 8:00 p.m. CST on Monday, Dec. 28, right here on Gina’s blog!  You just never know  … you could win a great new stamp set from Gina K.!      😉

As for the snow, we had 8′ snow on our terrace this week and I used to go sledding a lot as a child.
