“Weeds” in Lilac

Welcome back, friends!

I’m still exploring my newest rubber stamps from Rubbernecker.com .  I love the new florals & weeds images .. and they seem to be so conducive to combining, that it seems “easy” to play and come up with an idea quickly.  Hey … a stamper’s gotta love that …. or at least I do!     😉

This one started out as my plan for a “vintage” creation in tune with the CT0410 challenge at SCS.  But it actually began to get a little more “personal”, as I used these colors … then added the textured ribbon & bow.  I was beginning to take myself back to the farm in Oklahoma … where we had 2 “graineries” (as Daddy called them).  At the South side of those graineries was a beautiful lilac bush.  Ohhhhhh, the scent from that bush!  I will never forget it … even though it has been long gone for many years.   I no longer live in an area of sandy soil (or Oklahoma for that matter), or I would be mighty tempted to order a lilac bush and give it a good try here.  Oh well … back to the project …thanks for your indulgence!

I’ve used basic masking (with Eclipse tape) to keep the ‘shadowed’ images from interfering with my central image.   But I’ve also employed what I call “faux watercoloring” on this image.  What’s that??  Personally, I prefer to use shimmer cardstock when I do this .. just because it seems to allow the water effect to ‘show’ more than matte cardstock.   Tex’s Tip:  For my version of “Faux Watercoloring”, I ink the rubber with markers, then gently “mist” the rubber with a fine mist of water.  Next, I stamp the misted image onto shimmer cardstock.   If I don’t achieve my desired effect right away, then I gently mist the paper itself, and set it beneath my ceiling fan to dry.   (Not using a ceiling fan?  Just let it dry naturally … but allow a bit more time.)

The card base (5.5″ X 4.25″) was stamped repeatedly with the same image stamp .. specifically aiming the main focal point along the c/s edges.  EASY for sure!  I think the rest should be self-explanatory.  However, if you need or want further details, please do not hesitate to ask!

I’m off to celebrate TWO birthdays today!   My GDaughter shared her first b’day with her big brother, my G’Son.  Today, we “eat cake” and party!  LOL     Here’s hoping you’ll have a sweet & yummy weekend as well!
