There’s a Kitty in My Stocking!
Happy week-after Thanksgiving, everyone!! I’m still smiling over the special time with good friends and family. And, it was actually fun to “get out there” and actually get the majority of my Christmas shopping done! Yay! (Those who know me well, know that this is ‘not’ my norm. Maybe we’re never too old to learn new tricks after all!) I’m looking forward to Cyber-Monday to “wrap up” a few remainders.
The kitty in this stocking is colored to look a bit like one of my kitties, although they both actually prefer a plain deep box for playing & hiding. My inspiration for this card came from this collection of stockings at The Country Porch. Check out this week’s Inspiration Challenge 260 at SCS if you would like to share in the inspiring fun!
Since the ‘Stocking Kitty’ stamp is a little taller than most, I opted for a tall card for better overall balance. That choice also allowed room for added snowflakes and ribbon plus sentiment. The base card was cut at 7.5″ X 9″ with a center fold to leave the 9″ length, and the card fits into a traditional long (business) envie. It’s been a long time since I’ve used this format, but it’s fun to have the larger work area for a little change of pace. You might want to give it a try sometime!
The stocking itself was paper-pieced after I had colored the “stuffers” and heated the liquid applique on kitty’s hat. The snowflakes and branches were glittered before adhering to the card. It’s easy & quick with a 2-way glue for glittering. 😉
Here’s to the “official” opening of the Christmas season everyone! May your coming days be merry & bright, as well as your smiles! Thanks so much for stopping by … I always enjoy hearing from each of you.
