Flat is Fabulous!

I did it!   Beate’s HYCCT1301C challenge is to make a card that is “Flat & Fabulous” – only 1 or 2 layers with no bulky embellishments.  Her challenge was inspired by the everyday hope of finding no lumps during our routine self breast exams.

My original plan was to create a one-layer card, using nothing but shimmery white cardstock.

Did you notice that I take the “woman’s prerogative to change her mind” quite literally?

Even though my single layer morphed into a 2-layer creation, I did skip add-on embellishments, skipped my often-favored dimensional foam, but kept the shimmery cardstock.   I love the way it enhances the overall appearance with the wonderful way it reflects light!

The rainbow?  I used SU reinkers in Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Marina Mist, all dribbled onto a folded baby wipe.  Then I just swiped that custom hand-made ink ‘pad’ across the cardstock!   It never comes out “perfect”, but I still love the effect.

A die from the SU Labels Collection framelits was used to gently emboss the framing around the Rubbernecker sentiment.  I think it  lends a gentle but elegant feeling.  The card base uses SU’s Melon Mambo cardstock.

Have you checked out the Hope You Can Cling To challenges over at Splitcoaststampers?  We have daily themed challenges with the intention of sending all creations to M.D. Anderson medical center in Houston, TX for patient use during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Please check out this thread and join us in this worthy stamping cause!

Hope to see you here again soon.  Thanks so much for your visit!

  1. Very striking, Bev! Love the rainbow…it’s another reminder to me that God is with me and bigger than any problem I have.
