Happy New Creative Crew 2014!!
Welcome to a brand new year, everyone! Happy 2014!!
Along with the heralding of the new year, comes a new-for-me announcement as well! I’m tickled pink to let you know that I’m now a member of the Splitcoaststampers Stampin’ Up! Creative Crew Design Team for the January – April term! What a complete surprise to have received the invitation to participate in this delightful capacity!
The Creative Crew Team is comprised of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators at Splitcoaststampers, selected to serve quarterly terms. Each month reveals a set of four new challenges. Our January 2014 challenges were revealed on January 1. (So where have I been, you ask? Plastered under blankies ever since December 27 … dealing with an extraordinarily wicked flu bug!! Now, be GONE, bug~!!)
You’re always invited to play along in the SCS challenges, whether you are a Stampin’ Up! Demo or not. Yaaaay! Today I’ll share one of the four challenges with you, and I’ll bring along the other three during the following days. Our challenge author this month is Patty. She lives in MI, so she chose a totally relevant & fun theme for the month!
January in Michigan can be like a crystal ball: Icy, shimmery, white, cool blues, soft pinks, all mixed up with some earthy tones of red berries, evergreens and tree branches all coated with clear stuff!
CCREW0114CF — Catalog focus: All the world is glittery! Show me something with glitter, it can be a glitter technique, glitter sheets, anything that glitters!
Here in N. Texas, we had just experienced our December ice storm … so this challenge was oh so easy to envision! Just think very cool & icy colors, with lots of sparkles & the look of crystals! As a bonus, I’m sharing a peek at one of the new Sale-A-Bration stamp sets!
The icy background layer started with a Northern Flurry embossing folder. Then I followed my own Embossed Embossing Tutorial to create the icy glittery effect. I cut the snowflake layer for the sentiment with SU’s Festive Flurry framelits on vellum, then edged it with Crystal Effects followed by Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The sentiment was stamped with Island Indigo ink, cut out with Circle Framelits, and adhered to the vellum snowflake. Tiny Rhinestone Jewels finish off the snowflake points. Add a few Dimensionals, and this is ready to go!
I hope you like it. Remember I’ll be back in a couple of days to share another of the Creative Crew Challenges. In the meantime, if you would like to explore the SCS Creative Crew Gallery (< << just click here), please jump in and be inspired!

I’m thrilled for you…big CONGRATS!! So sorry you’ve been hit by a major bug! It seems to be making its rounds all over the nation. Nurses got the message yesterday at work that VA has had a major spike in cases of flu. 🙁 Glad you’re on the mend and will be sharing that fabulous mojo with us all! ((hugs))
Congrats!! (Sorry to hear you were sick…glad it is past!) Enjoy the team!!
